KS2 Stunning Start - Walkabout Australia - 5th September 2014
KS2 were given a big clue to their new topic this term with a fabulous aboriginal style mural in the school hall. Mr Poole introduced the new topic - Walkabout Australia - by telling them a little about Australia; showing them where it is in the world; describing some of the well known places of interest and pointing out how some of the language differs!
The children were then put in mixed aged groups and they set off on one of many activities for the day. Each group spent time bridge building, maybe using the Sydney Harbour bridge for inspiration! They then produced their own piece of aboriginal art and enjoyed the fine weather honing their cricket skills on the sports field, as well as working as a team producing their own poster on Australian facts.
