Church School Committee
Our Church School Committee is made up of members of the Senior Leadership Team, the RE subject coordinator and a selection of Governors including the Rector of St Mary's Church. The Committee meets on a termly basis with the aim of ensuring our school community continues to flourish. Their focus includes the quality of religious education, the distinct Christian character of the school and liaising with pupils and parents regarding their views on effectiveness of our school as a Church school.
Book Sample Audits: The Committee undertake regular monitoring of RE books from each class comparing them alongside work from other core subjects, such as English, to ensure that high standards are consistently demonstrated in what we consider to be a subject of the highest importance.
Learning Walks: These are completed by the Church School Committee three times a year to provide an opportunity to record the distinctive nature of our Church school. Feedback is shared with class teachers to ensure consistency of approach and quality of display.
Subject Coordinator Meetings: Our RE leader regularly attends subject coordinator meetings with other schools from across the Diocese of Rochester. These provide opportunities to share excellent practice and help to further develop RE across the school.
Diocesan Training: Members of the Church School Committee attend training provided by the Diocese of Rochester in order to keep abreast of current Church of England directives. We have hosted training at our school for Governors of other local schools when it has not been possible for them to travel to Rochester.
