Year 6 Residential - Frontier Centre, Northampton - 21st-25th September 2015
After a very smooth train journey to Wellingborough, we arrived at the Rock UK Frontier Centre full of anticipation and excitement - even the less than welcoming weather couldn't dampen our spirits!
We soon settled into our accommodation, Beech Lodge, and prepared ourselves for the afternoon ahead. The first activity was abseiling and we all set ourselves our own goals, whether it be negotiating the internal ladder system to reach the peak platform or abseiling down the vertical drop - everyone reached their goal and some even surpassed them!
Following a good night's sleep and breakfast, we clad ourselves in our best wet weather gear to battle the elements. Persistent rain all morning didn't deter the groups from participating fully in their activities - Bridge Building and Kayaking - our perseverance and resilience were put to the test, as was the 'drying room' on our sodden return to our accommodation! However, the afternoon brightened and the two groups swapped activities and were only lightly rained on!
Day Three brought sunshine and whole group activities namely High Ropes, the infamous King Swing and Bouncy Castle. Some set out with trepidation with the thought of what was to come but with the support of all their friends, everyone took part in all activities and exceeded their goals.
Archery, Trading Trainers and Raft Building were the activities for Day Four - a great amount of team work was required to succeed today and many lessons were learnt - especially during Trading Trainers!
Friday morning and our last activity - Climbing. Once again such tremendous grit and determination was shown by all.
We can't thank the staff at the Frontier Centre enough for their guidance, encouragement, friendliness and generous food portions!
