St Mary's Church
Our Partnership with St Mary’s Church
We are extremely fortunate to have a close and active partnership with St Mary’s Church. Members of the church community play an important role in the Christian life of our school and provide a range of opportunities for pupils to explore faith, prayer and reflection.
Members of the church lead collective worship in school each week and also run a regular prayer space, where children are invited to take part in calm, creative activities and spend time reflecting or praying.
Each year, our Year 6 pupils visit St Mary’s for special Christmas and Easter Experiences run by CrossTeach alongside members of the church community. Through a series of interactive activities and reflections, pupils are encouraged to explore the meaning of these important Christian festivals in greater depth.
We also hold a number of whole-school services at St Mary’s during the year, including our Harvest, Christmas, Easter and leavers’ services. These occasions bring pupils, staff, families and members of the church community together. The church also regularly invites individual year groups to attend additional services and events, helping children to feel a genuine sense of belonging within the wider parish community.
Our pupils are encouraged to put our Christian values into action by showing love and respect for others in the local community. At Harvest time, children take part in the tradition of delivering flowers to local residents. At Christmas, our Year 6 pupils also distribute chocolates to residents as a gesture of friendship and goodwill.
We are incredibly grateful for the time, encouragement, prayer and support that members of St Mary’s Church continue to give to our pupils and our school.
