Year 6 Christmas Carols & Cake - 8th December 2014
Year 6 were delighted to organise an afternoon of `Christmas Carols and Cake' for some of the local residents of Speldhurst. In preparation for the event, the pupils sent out invitations, organised the programme and refreshments and they also made beautiful table decorations with the help of Mrs Thorp (one of the parents who runs Blooming Perfect in Groombridge). Also, with the help of their parents, some of them also made delicious cakes for their guests to enjoy.
During the afternoon itself, the Year 6 students welcomed their guests to the school hall, ensured they had a good supply of tea or coffee as well as a plenty of cake. They then entertained them with musical pieces, a poem recital and the year 6 members of the choir sang Silent Night. This was interspersed with everyone joining together to sing popular carols.
Everyone had a thoroughly entertaining afternoon particularly enjoying each other's company
