Mbedza Projects Support

Speldhurst were extremely lucky today to have two visitors from our linked charity - Mbedza Projects Support. Nina and Daphney visited all of the children in the school and spoke to them about life in Malawi. The children were really interested in the toys children in Malawi play with - the football is made from used plastic bags and the car is made from old wires and plastic bottle lids.

They talked to them about the projects which Mbedza are working on such as building new stoves. The new stoves used a third of the firewood which open fires use and are much safer as all the flames are contained and avoid burns. Daphney works with MOSES students (Malawian Orphans Sponsorship Education Scheme) and told KS2 about the support they give to students who can't afford to go to school.
